Former Australian Test captain Tim Paine has taken a leave of absence on all forms of cricket for the "foreseeable future".
The decision comes one week after the wicketkeeper's sexting scandal, which included lewd messages being sent to a fellow member of staff in 2017.
The fallout of the scandal saw Paine resign as test captain of Australia, with his playing future also clouded.
A statement released by cricket Tasmania on Friday has revealed that the 36-year-old will step away from all forms of cricket for the time being.
"Following discussions over the last 24 hours, Tim Paine has advised Cricket Tasmania that he will be taking a leave of absence from all forms of cricket for the foreseeable future," the statement reads.
"Tim’s decision makes him unavailable for selection for today’s Marsh One-Day Cup match against Western Australia. His place in the squad will be taken by Charlie Wakim.
"Cricket Tasmania will continue to support Tim and his family both professionally and personally over the summer."
Paine was set to represent the Tigers in the Marsh One-Day Cup on Friday and had featured for Tasmania's second XI earlier this week.
The veteran's manager James Henderson confirmed via Twitter of his clients decision, with Paine having to undertake a "mental health break".
Confirming that @tdpaine36 is stepping away from cricket for an indefinite mental health break. We are extremely concerned for his and Bonnie’s well-being and will be making no further comment at this time.

Standby wicketkeepers Alex Carey and Josh Inglis are the only two recognised glovemen in Australia's squad ahead of the first Ashes Test on December 8 at the Gabba, with one set to be selected for the first lineup to face England.
